Some news

Unknown-2After a long hiatus spent researching my new book, I’m back, and I plan to be posting here regularly in coming weeks. Thanks for your patience. The new book will be called The Culture Code: The Hidden Language of Successful Groups, and it will be published next fall (2017) by Random House.

It’s based on a simple idea: beneath the surface, all high-performing groups are fundamentally the same place, following the same rules. I spent the last three years visiting eight of the world’s most highly successful groups, including Pixar, Navy SEALs Team Six, the San Antonio Spurs, IDEO, a gang of jewel thieves, and others.  I found that they share a behavioral fingerprint, relentlessly generating a pattern of messages that create belonging, trust, and purpose. This book is about understanding how those messages work — and understanding how to use them to build your group’s culture.

Researching this book, as you might guess, has been addictively fascinating. I’m eager to share some material with you in the coming months, and, more important, I’m eager to hear your ideas. Looking forward to continuing the conversation, and thanks for reading.

I’m looking forward to this. I hope it is at least as good as Clotaire Rapaille’s Culture Code book.

    Hey Mr. Coyle,
I’ve Been checking out regularly if there was a new blog post on your website
and was wondering where you went .
And was so happy to see you publish a new announcement this week.
Great to hear you wrote a new book and I hope you are still going to write
about deliberate practice and talent development in you blogs despite your book being
    about something different, I think.
It would be awesome if you could write a post on motivation and self discipline like
In the Little Book of Talent : The Keep your goals secret and Spartan Tip.
I was wondering if you have some additional tips on self discipline that would be great.
Thank you so much for the great content in your books and blogs, I’m so happy to have found out about you
    3 years ago.

It is important that all high performing groups follow the same rules so all athletes in a group must know what the rules are. No ambiguity, no misinterpretations. Nfortunately when it comes to ‘cultures’ of groups there will be, like any office, those who are seen more favourably. Who sets the rules? If t s not the ‘boss’ it can lead to weak leadership.A whole lot of other stuff gets lplayed out re group dynamics which has little to do with rules.F an athlete can keep their integrity and follow their own moral compass and be seen as a rule breaker then what ‘language’ is being ‘shared’.Trust yourself first and you will succeed. Following rules for the sake of following rules is not going to benefit athletes n the long-term as they will not be true to who they are.

Finally, will definitely buy your next book, last one has gave me a very good routine which coupled with Flow and Power of Habit I was able to manage my stress levels, got confidence in my choices and in turn I can better help my brother battling schizophrenia and depression instead of being depressed and not being able to breath because of too much stress…

Also am seeing small bits of the success I’m aiming for now, even though only my brother was supportive of my choices many years ago, now people at least stopped trying to dissuade me from my path thanks to it. Wouldn’t have has much willpower without your research. Thank You!
